Pune

Major attractions of Pune

Temples
Although there are several temples in Pune but Parvati Hill temple is the most popular. Perched on a hill, it is the oldest temple of the city. Another ancient temple is Chatushrungi Mata Temple. You must also visit the Katraj and Pataleshwar Caves of the city.

Wildlife
The city boasts of Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary which is famous for Giant Indian Squirrel and a variety of birds and animals. To catch glimpses of amazing birds, snakes, turtles and other reptiles visit Katraj Snake Park. Peshwe Park is another attraction where you can enjoy toy train ride, animal ride and boating facilities.

Museums
Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum is a great museum to visit as it displays stunning collection of Indian arts and crafts. Visit the Tribal museum where you will get acquainted with the handicrafts, articles and life styles of the several tribes of Maharashtra. Mahatma Phule Museum, National War Museum and Darshan Museum are the other museums worth a visit.

Aga Khan Palace
Located in the Yerawada area, this palace is a majestic attraction of Pune. Built in 1892 by Sultan Mohammed Shah, Aga Khan III, the palace looks magnificent. From its architecture to interiors, everything has a royal touch to it. It was donated to the Government of India in 1969 with an objective to use it in hour of Mahatma Gandhi and his philosophy.

Empress Garden
Sprawling across acres of land, this refreshing garden is almost like a botanical park as it is a home to a wide variety of fruit bearing trees.

How to reach
Pune airport offers regular flights to the major cities of India. The city is also well connected by rail and road to the other cities in Maharashtra.
