Mcleodganj
Dharamshala is divided into two parts namely the lower Dharamshala and the upper Dharamshala which is also known as Mcleodganj. It is the abode of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama. Several attractions are there at this place.
War Memorial
Dedicated to the post independence war heroes of Himachal Pradesh, the war memorial is a great place to visit.
Dharmkot
Offering majestic panoramic views of the scenic Kangra District, Dharmkot is an eco-friendly picnic spot known for breathtaking natural beauty and the picturesque sight. The small village on the hills is surrounded by beautiful landscape and gushy trees.
Dalai Lama Temple
The peaceful place in the upper Dharamshala houses the Namgyal Monastery, Dalai Lama residence and a small temple ‘Tsug-Lag-Khang’. It’s a perfect place for long walks and meditation. The temple is open from sunrise to sunset.
Dal Lake
The greenish water lake is about 10 km from Dharamshala and is surrounded by deodar trees. Situated near to the home for various kind of fishes, is a small Shiva temple adding a sacred believe to the beautiful lake.
Kangra Fort
Located 20 kilometers from the town of Dharamshala, the fort is a majestic sample of architecture, constructed by the royal family of Kangra. Having seven gates, the fort houses few temples inside it open to all. Adjacent to the fort is an art museum having famous artistic work in display and the fort’s top also promises a magnificent view of the two rivers, Manjhi and Banganga.
St. John Church
Also known as ‘St. John Church in Wilderness’, the church is an Anglican Church, dedicated to Saint John. The church is built in Neo-Gothic architectural style and stained glass paintings add to the beauty of the Church.

How to reach
Kangra airport is the nearest airport from Dharamshala (around 21 km). The hill station is well connected via trains and roads to the major cities of the country.
